Tanimu Foundation Ultra-Modern Public Library

In keeping with its mission to support education, the Tanimu Foundation funded and built the Ultra-Modern Public Library for the community. It will serve as an important resource offering books and materials for all levels of education, from primary (or elementary) to tertiary (or university) students.

During the inauguration ceremony on July 20, 2018, Dr. Tanimu expressed his desire to improve the lives of those in the community. “The most vital and time-tested agent of change in any community is EDUCATION. It is the vehicle of change that can transform a family unit from a state of poverty and despair to prosperity,” said Tanimu. Many in the area, especially youth, are affected by illiteracy, gang activities, violence, unemployment and other issues.

A Resource for All Ages

To this end, the library welcomes all. Children are encouraged to improve their reading in the special children’s section, while high school and university students are welcome to study using the many resources available.

There are also medical books for those studying for exams such as the U.S. Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) or the National Council Licensure Examination for Nurses (NCLEX). Books are not allowed to be checked out of the library at this time, but this policy will be reviewed and possibly changed in the future.

New computers and resources are available in an e-Library section and professional facilities will also assist with seminars or training, including a conference room with a projector and services such as faxing, printing, laminating and copying. These services are offered at substantially low prices to help maintain the operation of the e-library section.

With its technology facilities and a solar-powered energy source, the library is the most modern of its kind in the region.
